The Roosterfish is featuring homoerotic art by local gay and gay-friendly artists. So, check out the works of our featured artist now showing.
Local California Artist, Ivo Sobieski proudly refers to himself as a "lewd artist." And, while the overt sexuality of his works certainly make that true, what is equally true is that he is a truly talented artist as well. Though he usually works in watercolor, Ivo's current acrylic series makes remarkable use of the mediums properties to add light, shadow, depth and even greater sensuality to his work. A featured artist at Tom of Finland artist, his work has also been displayed at Silverlake's Metro Gallery, the Gallery At The End Of The World and numerous other fine arts galleries.
Ivo describes his artistic role as creating "marks and stains on the alley walls between the ancient, the contemporary and the eternal never" and sees his painting as "narrative compositions riding on the backs of ancient fertility myths that speak to us of metamorphosis and change." He then goes on to discuss the blatant eroticism of the subject of his paintings as "strutting proud and naked in a utopia of sexual bliss and anguished longing." We couldn't have said it any better ourselves.
The Roosterfish will be displaying several of Ivo Sobieski's homoerotic works through the end of August, so please come down and check them out. You can also see additional works on his website at www.Ivo-Sobieski.com.
